The shipyard wants the new boat to be faster, more comfortable, more luxurious and easier to operate. This is no easy task, as these aspects were not recognised as weak points of the previous boat. The differences seem small at first glance, but they have an overall effect. The proven hull was retained, but the deck was redesigned. The cockpit has been widened, the fixed helmsman's seats have been replaced by fold-up seats and new storage space has been created in the cockpit floor. In addition to the companionway, atriums provide more light during the day and exciting effects in the evening or at night. The aft cabins were given more headroom and the forward cabin more space. In addition, a greater proportion of wood and more design variation, L-shaped keels instead of T-shaped keels - and many more innovations.
Yes, the 418 is a real advancement.
